Alistair Brookes
Alistair Brookes was born in a County Durham mining village and lives in the Yorkshire Dales.
His raku fired ceramics are inspired by the mining community and the traditions and people of the countryside. The spontaneity and unpredictability of the raku firing process are perfectly suited to his rural figures.
Alistair has turned his attention to the fisherfolk of the North Sea coast for Staithes Gallery.

“Being creative with clay and breathing life into it is my trade. My figures, I hope, represent the dignity of man and become heroes, proud of the honest work they do.”
